Metformin tablets are used for the treatment of type 2 (non-insulin dependant) diabetes particularly in overweight patients, where diet and exercise changes alone have not been sufficient to control it. Metformin may either be used alone or in combination with other medicines called sulphonylureas or with insulin. This treatment is only for patients who are already using Metformin. You will need to take Metformin as previously directed by your own doctor.
