About Cialis

Description

Cialis contains the active ingredient tadalafil which belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors. Following sexual stimulation Cialis works by helping the blood vessels in your penis to relax, allowing the flow of blood into your penis. The result of this is improved erectile function.

Suitability

Do not take Cialis if you:

• are allergic (hypersensitive) to tadalafil or any of the other ingredients listed in the patient information leaflet
• are taking any form of organic nitrate or nitric oxide donors such as amyl nitrite used in the treatment of angina pectoris (chest pain)
• have serious heart disease or recently had a heart attack within the last 90 days
• recently had a stroke within the last 6 months
• have low blood pressure or uncontrolled high blood pressure
• ever had loss of vision because of non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), a condition described as stroke of the eye
• are taking riociguat - this drug is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (i.e. high blood pressure in the lungs) and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (i.e. high blood pressure in the lungs secondary to blood clots)

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Cialis is not indicated for use by women

Important Interactions

Do not take Cialis if you are already taking nitrates. You must tell your doctor if you are taking, have recently taken or might take other medicines, in particular:

• an alpha blocker (used to treat high blood pressure or urinary symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia)
• other medicines to treat high blood pressure
• riociguat
• a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor (used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia)
• medicines such as ketoconazole tablets (to treat fungal infections) and protease inhibitors for treatment of AIDS or HIV infection
• phenobarbital, phenytoin and carbamazepine (anticonvulsant medicines)
• rifampicin, erythromycin, clarithromycin or itraconazole
• other treatments for erectile dysfunction

• pain in arms and legs
• facial flushing
• nasal congestion
• indigestion

Alternatives

Cialis is also available as Cialis Daily tablets. Other ED medications include Viagra (Sildenafil), Levitra and Spedra. Alternative treatments to ED medication include treating underlying physical or psychological causes, undergoing lifestyle changes, vacuum devices and surgical intervention.

Looking after your medicine

Do not take medicines after the expiry date stamped on the pack. Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children.

Medicines are only intended to be used by the person they are prescribed for. Do not give your prescribed medicine to anybody else, even if they have the same symptoms as you. Medicines can be harmful if used by anybody other than the person they have been prescribed for.

What is the difference between Cialis and Cialis Daily?

Cialis (10mg, 20mg) is taken when you anticipate sexual activity. Usually it is effective within 30 minutes. Cialis Daily (2.5mg and 5mg) is taken at the same time each day and gives more spontaneous results. It may be useful to men who anticipate having sexual activity two or more times per week.
