About Aldara Cream

Description

Aldara Cream contains the active ingredient imiquimod and is used to treat warts (condylomata acuminata) on the surface of the genitals (sexual organs) and around the anus (back passage). Aldara cream helps your body's own immune system to produce natural substances which help fight the virus that has caused your warts.

Suitability

Do not use Aldara Cream if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to imiquimod or any of the other ingredients listed in the patient information leaflet.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Your doctor will discuss the risks and benefits of using Aldara cream during pregnancy. Studies in animals do not indicate direct or indirect harmful effects in pregnancy. Do not breastfeed your infant during treatment with Aldara cream, as it is not known whether imiquimod is secreted in human milk.

Warts can also be treated by physical removal such as freezing, diathermy (burning) or laser. Treatment can sometimes require several visits and recurrences can occur after any form of treatment.

Looking after your medicine
