Buy Circadin for travel

Our Executive Travel Pack includes Circadin, which is a tablet form of the hormone melatonin. Melatonin is secreted naturally by the pineal gland in your brain as your eyes register the fall of darkness. At night, melatonin is produced to help our bodies regulate our sleep-wake cycles. By taking this hormone in a tablet form it can help your body adapt to your new destination's local time quicker.

All our products are genuine UK medicines and are dispensed by our partner pharmacy based in the UK.

British National Formulary: melatonin

Currently within the UK, Circadin (melatonin) is not licensed for the treatment of jet lag. However, clinical evidence shows that melatonin can help with the symptoms of jet lag and it is therefore widely used. Melatonin is a hormone that is produced by a small gland under your brain. It's released in the evening and tells your brain it's time to sleep - this is part of your body clock.

There have been a number of studies to see if taking melatonin supplements can prevent jet lag, but results have been mixed. Available evidence points to a greater benefit the larger the time difference between the two countries visited.

Circadin is only available on prescription in the UK, which means you cannot buy it over the counter at pharmacies. You also cannot buy melatonin supplements in health food shops in the UK. The only safe way to get Circadin is to get a prescription issued following a full doctor assessment. This can be with your regular GP or via an online GP consultation. Circadin is available from Anytime Doctor following a full GP assessment.

Circadin, which contains the active ingredient melatonin, is classed as a medicine I the UK. This means that it is not available to buy without a prescription or over the counter. Whilst it is available to buy over the counter in other countries, in the UK you need to be prescribed melatonin by a doctor.

Whilst the sale of melatonin without a prescription is banned in the UK, you can get it on prescription from your GP. Melatonin and Circadin is only banned from being purchased in regular stores and health food shops. It can still be purchased without a prescription in other countries, but in the UK it is deemed to be a medicine and hence requires you to have a prescription from your doctor.
