Order Trichomoniasis Treatment Online

What is Trichomoniasis?

Trichomoniasis vaginalis (also called trichomonas or TV) is a sexually transmitted infection (STI). It is a protozoan, which is a tiny bug, similar to bacteria. It can infect the genital area, but it does not usually go further into the body. It often presents with no symptoms, so you can pass on the infection without realising it.

Anytime Doctor provides a regulated specialist service for people who have tested positive for trichomoniasis, patients who have a sexual partner who has trichomoniasis or people who recognise the symptoms of trichomoniasis after having had a previous episode in the past. If in doubt, please order a postal test kit before requesting treatment.

All services provided by Anytime Doctor are safe, fast and confidential. You can obtain treatment within the privacy of your home and without the inconvenience of waiting for an appointment.

Description

Metronidazole is an antibiotic treatment available both as a single dose and seven day treatment course. More than 9 in 10 infections clear with a single high dose. For cases that relapse after treatment a longer course of treatment is advisable.

Side Effects
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • diarrhoea
  • allergic rash
Please Note

It is important that you do not drink alcohol the day before through to 48 hours after you finish the medication. The one day trichomoniasis treatment can increase the chances of nausea more than the seven day treatment. Trichomoniasis treatment may also affect the effectiveness of hormonal contraception.

All medication can cause side effects. Details of all side effects, including rare side effects to be aware of, are listed in the patient information leaflet (PIL). When completing your medical questionnaire it is very important that you answer the questions truthfully. This is to ensure your doctor has a full picture of your medical history before prescribing. List all medicines you are already taking, including non-prescription and herbal medicines.

Suitability

You should not request this treatment if you are allergic to metronidazole, pregnant, breast feeding or you suffer from liver or kidney disease. If you fall into one of these categories, please attend your nearest GUM clinic or see your GP for a face-to-face consultation.

If you have been treated for trichomoniasis within the last three months you should not order a second course of treatment without first consulting a doctor via your secure online patient medical record.

Alternatives

In some cases the infection may clear by itself. However, this may take several weeks, and there is no way of predicting if it will clear or not. Treatment is usually advised in all cases.

Looking after your medicine

Do not take medicines after the expiry date stamped on the pack. Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children.

Medicines are only intended to be used by the person they are prescribed for. Do not give your prescribed medicine to anybody else, even if they have the same symptoms as you. Medicines can be harmful if used by anybody other than the person they have been prescribed for.

How the service works

Step 1

Complete a free online medical consultation. Your answers provide our doctors with the information they need to safely recommend the right treatment for you.

Step 2

A doctor will review your consultation and, if it is safe to do so, approve you for treatment. Our doctors will suggest suitable treatment options, including dosage and treatment duration. Select your medicine and complete your order using our secure payment system.

Step 3

All prescriptions are sent electronically to our UK based partner pharmacy, ready for dispatch. Our partner pharmacy is regulated by the General Pharmaceutical Council and only dispenses genuine branded medicines licensed for use in the UK.

Step 4

Medicines require a signature upon delivery. Most orders are dispensed and dispatched for delivery the next working day. All orders are sent using discrete packaging with no mention of Anytime Doctor or the parcel content. Upgrade to same day delivery for orders within the M25.

All of our prices are fully inclusive. When buying your treatment online our price includes the cost of the consultation, the issuing of a private prescription, dispensing of the medicine itself, free delivery and doctor after-care. There are no hidden extras.

We aim to offer you similar pattern of healthcare as if you were to visit your normal GP for a face to face consultation. We believe it is important that you complete a medical consultation to ensure that the treatment option you are requesting is appropriate for your needs. Our GMC registered doctors are also able to suggest treatment options for you if you prefer. Once a doctor has approved you for treatment all prices are clearly displayed. Your medical consultation and registration is free and you are under no obligation to purchase any treatment after your consultation.

In order to manage some conditions online, we are required to inform your GP about the medicine you have been prescribed. This will be clearly highlighted during your consultation. We will not contact or share this information with your GP without your consent. You are required to provide consent each time you order, so you remain in full control of when we contact your GP on your behalf.

Your Anytime Doctor medical record is confidential and securely stored on our UK data servers. We will never share your details unless you expressly ask us to do so.

Half of all men and women infected with trichomoniasis may not have any symptoms. When symptoms are present, they can be different in men and women.

In women:

  • vaginal discharge, usually greeny-yellow and may be 'frothy' with an unpleasant or fishy odour
  • vagina and vulva may be itchy and uncomfortable and may make sex painful
  • soreness when passing urine

In men:

  • discharge from the penis
  • soreness when passing urine
  • passing urine more frequently (due to irritation inside the penis)
  • infection of the prostate or epididymis (next to the testis) are rare complications

Both the one day course and seven day course of treatment for trichomoniasis are very effective if you follow your doctor's prescribing instructions.

You must not have unprotected sex (sex without using a barrier method) for at least seven days after you have finished your course of trichomoniasis treatment. This is to ensure you do not pass trichomoniasis to your partner. It is also recommended that both you and your partner receive treatment to prevent reinfection if they have already been exposed to trichomoniasis.

If your partner has been exposed to trichomoniasis, they should also receive treatment to prevent cross- or reinfection of trichomoniasis. If unsure, they can order a trichomoniasis test kit. Should your partner also wish to use the Anytime Doctor trichomoniasis service, they are required to complete their own online consultation.
