Nitrofurantoin is the first line antibiotic treatment for cystitis, especially if trimethoprim has been used within the last 12 months. Nitrofurantoin has been found to have less bacterial resistance than trimethoprim. It is available in 50mg tablets and 100mg modified release (M/R) capsules. Our doctors will recommend the best choice of antibiotic depending on the information provided during your consultation.
All our products are genuine UK medicines and are dispensed by our partner pharmacy based in the UK.

Some cystitis infections may clear up of their own accord. You can ease symptoms by drinking 2-3 litres a day to flush the bladder and by taking cranberry tablets which are available from your pharmacy. Trimethoprim is another antibiotic available if Nitrofurantoin is not appropriate. Other antibiotics can be used for the treatment of more serious cases of cystitis. These are not prescribed by Anytime Doctor as more serious UTIs may need close monitoring.
Do not take medicines after the expiry date stamped on the pack. Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children.
Medicines are only intended to be used by the person they are prescribed for. Do not give your prescribed medicine to anybody else, even if they have the same symptoms as you. Medicines can be harmful if used by anybody other than the person they have been prescribed for.
