Orlistat 120mg

Buy Orlistat for Weight Loss

Orlistat is a medicine used to treat obesity when other strategies such as dietary changes and exercise have failed. It works in your digestive system to block about one-third of the fat in the food you eat from being digested. Orlistat attaches to the enzymes in your digestive system (called lipases) and blocks them from breaking down some of the fat you have eaten during your meal. The undigested fat cannot be absorbed and is eliminated by your body. Orlistat is indicated in the treatment of obesity in conjunction with a low calorie intake diet.

All our products are genuine UK medicines and are dispensed by our partner pharmacy based in the UK.

Description

Orlistat belongs to a group of medicines called lipase inhibitors, which reduces the absorption of dietary fat. It contains the active ingredient orlistat and is used in the treatment of obesity where other methods for achieving weight loss have failed. This medicine can interfere with absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (e.g., A, D, E, K), so a daily multivitamin supplement containing these nutrients is recommended.

Suitability

Do not take Orlistat:

  • if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to orlistat or any of the other ingredients listed in the patient information leaflet
  • if you have chronic malabsorption syndrome (insufficient absorption of nutrients from alimentary tract)
  • if you have cholestasis (liver disorder)
  • if you are breast-feeding
Important Interactions

You must tell your doctor if you are taking, have recently taken or might take other medicines. Orlistat may modify the activity of:

  • anticoagulant drugs (e.g. warfarin) - your doctor may need to monitor your blood coagulation
  • ciclosporin - co-administration with ciclosporin is not recommended and your doctor may need to monitor your ciclosporin blood levels more frequently than usual
  • iodine salts and/or levothyroxine - hypothyroidism and/or reduced control of hypothyroidism may occur
  • amiodarone
  • medicines to treat HIV
  • medicines for depression, psychiatric disorders or anxiousness

Please Note

All medication can cause side effects. We have only listed a few to be aware of. Details of all side effects, including rare side effects to be aware of, are listed in the patient information leaflet (PIL). When completing your medical questionnaire, it is very important that you answer the questions truthfully. This is to ensure your doctor has a full picture of your medical history before prescribing. List all medicines you are already taking, including non-prescription and herbal medicines.

Alternatives

You can naturally overcome obesity by following a calorie controlled diet and regular exercise. Orlistat is used to accelerate this process. However, to maintain your weight loss you need to permanently change your eating and exercise habits.

Reductil (sibutramine) is available but you must see your GP for a face-to-face consultation. Reductil works by inhibiting certain chemicals in the brain which in turn reduces appetite and enhances feelings of fullness. However, Reductil can increase your blood pressure which is why it is not available through an online consultation.

Looking after your medicine

Do not take medicines after the expiry date stamped on the pack. Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children.

Medicines are only intended to be used by the person they are prescribed for. Do not give your prescribed medicine to anybody else, even if they have the same symptoms as you. Medicines can be harmful if used by anybody other than the person they have been prescribed for.
